Indonesia Divers Collect Debris From Sriwijiaya Crash Site

The recovery of flight recorders from the crashed Sriwijaya Air Boeing 737 remained the main focus for search teams in the sea off Jakarta on January 12, state media said.

Sriwijaya Air said in a statement that the aircraft lost contact at 2:40 pm local time on January 9. Six crew members and 56 passengers were on board, 10 of whom were children, the airline said.

Family members of the passengers provided DNA samples to aid in the identification process, a spokesman for a Jakarta hospital told state media. He said the National Police Hospital had received 17 body bags as of Monday evening. Credit: Basarnas via Storyful
