Indiana sports community reacts on Twitter after mass shooting at Indianapolis FedEx facility
The Indianapolis sports community took to social media on Friday morning in the wake of a mass shooting at a FedEx facility in the city.
A gunman entered a FedEx facility near the Indianapolis airport late on Thursday night and killed eight people, according to The New York Times. The shooting is just the latest in the United States over the past month — following a string of shootings at spas in the Atlanta area that left eight dead and one at a Boulder, Colorado, supermarket that killed 10 people, to name a few.
Both the Indianapolis Colts and the Pacers released statements on Friday morning, as did the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the NTT IndyCar Series.
Our heartfelt prayers are with the victims and their families. https://t.co/TRfk6jrfvV

“Once again, our hearts are broken by another senseless tragedy,” the Colts said in a statement, in part. “We at the Colts are deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the horrific act that took place last night in our city. We join the entire Indianapolis community in mourning those who lost their lives and praying for all those who are or will be impacted over the weeks and months to come … The victims and survivors are our friends and neighbors, and one can only imagine the nightmare their families are living through this morning.”
Colts owner Jim Irsay along with several players took to social media with similar messages.
Heartbroken, with the rest of our town. These were night-shift workers, doing good, honest work to provide for their families.
