Indian guru's tips to ward off coronavirus anger health professionals

This is a promotional video claiming to provide herbal medicine tips to ward off coronavirus.

A popular Indian yoga guru, Baba Ramdev, tells viewers that scientific research shows the Ashwagandha plant produced by his company stops the blending of coronavirus protein with human protein.

But there's a problem: It's outraged healthcare professionals, who question the claims, and some are urging the government to ban such advertisements.

He did not provide any evidence for the research

There are currently no vaccines or drugs approved to treat or prevent COVID-19, only investigational COVID-19 vaccines and treatments under development.

And medical science professions say Ramdev is confusing the public in India, where such remedies are popular.

Multiple calls and e-mails seeking comment from Ramdev and his company went unanswered.

In a series of tweets, Ramdev also urged Indians to take up yoga to boost immunity, using the hashtag #YogaForCorona.
