India celebrates Republic Day with bike stunts

STORY: Human pyramids, spinning, twirling and standing on ladders – all done atop motorcycles – were among the acrobatic displays showcased by the Corps of Signals Motorcycle Display Team, or better known as the “Dare Devils”.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who is on an official state visit, were in attendance at the parade, which also showcased India’s military's missiles, tanks and jets.

India won independence from British rule on August 15, 1947, but it was not until January 26, 1950, that the nation declared itself a sovereign republic state with the adoption of its Constitution.
