Firefighters continued their nearly weeklong battle against wildfires in Southern California Monday as three large blazes continued to burn in Los Angeles County. At least 24 people have been killed since the fires broke out last Tuesday, and officials expect that number to rise.
According to the latest figures from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, the Palisades Fire has reached over 23,700 acres; the Eaton Fire in the Pasadena area has burned over 14,100 acres; and the Hurst Fire, nearly 800 acres. About 92,000 residents remain under mandatory evacuation orders as of Monday morning.
Communities are left reeling from the Palisades and Eaton wildfire devastation, with homes, churches and businesses burned to the ground, as photos show below.

Some residents eager to return to their property to see how it has fared from the fires have not been able to do so due to public safety precautions. L.A. County officials say there are still downed utilities, and potential flare-ups, as well as grid searches that are still being conducted for missing people and remains among the charred wreckage.
