Imbibitor Lunae build guide for Honkai: Star Rail - Relics, Light Cones, team comp
Dan Heng's Imbibitor Lunae form is a powerful damage-dealer that can sweep the entire field clean of enemies, provided players can manage their skill points.
Honkai: Star Rail version 1.3 is finally here!
Headlining this new update is the arrival of Dan Heng • Imbibitor Lunae as the featured 5-star character of this new version’s first half.
Imbibitor Lunae is the 5-star version of the 4-star character Dan Heng, as the Astral Express Crew’s archivist tapped into his hidden power as the reincarnation of the High Elder of the Vidyadhara of the Xianzhou Luofu.
Imbibitor Lunae wields the Imaginary element and follows the Path of Destruction, consuming multiple skill points to summon a watery dragon that empowers his attacks and lays waste to enemies.
With the right teammates around him, Imbibitor Lunae can unleash a torrent of attacks that can wipe the entire battlefield clean. Read on as we break down his best build, gear, and teammates!
Imbibitor Lunae's kit and how you can best utilise him
A draconic legacy
Imbibitor Lunae is a very powerful damage-dealer that can sweep the entire field clean of enemies, provided players can successfully manage their skill points to give him enough to empower his basic attacks.
Imbibitor Lunae can consume multiple skill points to use his skill, Dracore Libre, to empower his basic attack up to three times and turn it into Transcendence, Divine Spear, and Fulgurant Leap.
Transcendence unleashes 3 hits that deal Imaginary DMG to a single target. Divine Spear unleashes a 5-hit attack that deals Imaginary DMG to a single enemy target, with the fourth and fifth hits also hitting adjacent enemies.
Meanwhile, Fulgurant Leap unleashes a powerful 7-hit attack that deals Imaginary DMG to a single target target, with the fourth hit onward also dealing damage to adjacent enemies.
In addition, unleashing Divine Spear or Fulgurant Leap gives Imbibitor Lunae 1 stack of Outroar before every hit, with each stack increasing his Crit DMG by 12% at level 10, up to a max of 4 stacks. These stacks last until the end of his turn.
Imbibitor Lunae's ultimate, Azure's Aqua Ablutes All, unleashes a 3-hit attack that deals Imaginary DMG to a single target and any adjacent enemies. In addition, it also grants 2 stacks of Squama Sacrosancta, with a max of 3 stacks, that he can consume to use his skill instead of skill points.
Imbibitor Lunae's Talent, Righteous Heart, further boosts his damage output by giving him 1 stack of Righteous Heart for each hit unleashed during an attack. Righteous Heart increases his DMG, up to 6 stacks, until the end of Imbibitor Lunae's turn.
Meanwhile, Imbibitor Lunae's major Traces give him some valuable utility to keep him in the thick of battle.
Imbibitor Lunae's A2 Trace, Star Veil, gives him 15 energy at the start of battle while his A4 Trace, Aqua Reign, increases his chance to resist Crowd Control debuffs by 35%. His A6 Trace, Jolt Anew, increases his Crit Rate by 12% when dealing DMG to enemies with an Imaginary Weakness.
Finally, Imbibitor Lunae's Technique, Heaven-Quelling Prismadrakon, puts him in the Leaping Dragon state for 20 seconds to move forward rapidly, attack all enemies he touches, and block incoming enemy attacks. Starting a battle while in the Leaping Dragon universe deals Imaginary DMG to all enemies and gives Imbibitor Lunae 1 stack of Squama Sacrosancta.
In battle, make sure to devote a turn for Imbibitor Lunae’s teammates to use their skills and ultimates to provide necessary buffs for him or debuffs for enemies. Once it is Imbibitor Lunae’s turn, use as many skill points as possible to unleash his empowered basic attacks. You can then use his ultimate to deal more damage and provide stacks of Squama Sacrosancta to once again empower his basic attacks to finish off whichever enemies are still left standing.
When levelling up Imbibitor Lunae’s abilities, you’d want them all to be levelled up to maximum for him to reach his full potential. However, you can prioritise his basic attack first, followed by his ultimate, then his skill.
Imbibitor Lunae’s best gear
Light Cones
Imbibitor Lunae’s best Light Cone is hands-down his signature, Brighter than the Sun. It passively increases his Crit Rate by 18% and gives him 1 stack of Dragon’s Call for 2 turns every time he uses his basic attack. Dragon’s Call can be stacked up to 2 times and will increase Imbibitor Lunae’s ATK by 18% and Energy Regeneration Rate by 6%.
If you don’t have enough Stellar Jade to pull for Imbibitor Lunae’s signature Light Cone, don’t fret as he has some very good alternatives.
His best alternative 5-star Light Cone is On the Fall of an Aeon, which can be acquired and Superimposed for free through the Simulated Universe’s Herta Store. It passively increases the wearer’s ATK by 8%, stacking up to 4 times, whenever they attack. When the wielder inflicts Weakness Break on enemies, it will also increase their DMG by 12% for 2 turns.
Another good 5-star Light Cone is Something Irreplaceable, Clara’s signature. It passively increases the wielder’s ATK by 24% and immediately restores their HP equal to 8% of their ATK whenever they defeat an enemy or get hit. In addition, the wielder’s DMG is increased by 24% until the end of their next turn. The heal and DMG increase cannot stack and can only be triggered once per turn.
As for Imbibitor Lunae’s 4-star Light Cone options, then you can go for Nowhere to Run, Under the Blue Sky, and The Moles Welcome You.
Nowhere to Run, which can be acquired by upgrading the Battle Pass, increases its wielder’s ATK by 24% and restores their HP equal to 12% of their ATK whenever they defeat an enemy.
Under the Blue Sky increases its wielder’s ATK by 16% and increases their Crit Rate by 12% for 3 turns when they defeat an enemy.
Finally, The Moles Welcome You grants its wielder 1 stack of Mischievous whenever they use a basic attack, skill, or ultimate. Each stack of Mischievous increases the wielder’s ATK by 12%.
Relics
Imbibitor Lunae’s best Cavern of Corrosion relic set is the 4-piece Wastelander of Banditry Desert. It increases his Imaginary DMG by 10% while also buffing his Crit Rate by 10% when attacking debuffed enemies and his Crit DMG by 20% when attacking Imprisoned enemies.
If you don’t have a 4-piece set ready, you can also go for a mixed set of the 2-piece Wastelander of Banditry Desert and 2-piece Musketeer of Wild Wheat, which increases his Imaginary DMG by 12% and his ATK by 12%.
As for Imbibitor Lunae’s Planar Ornament relics, your best bet is the 2-piece Rutilant Arena set. It increases his Crit Rate by 8% and buffs his basic attack and skill DMG by 20% when his Crit Rate reaches 70% or higher.
The main stats you should be looking for are Crit Rate/DMG for the Body, ATK% for the Feet, Imaginary DMG Boost for the Planar Sphere, and ATK% for the Link Rope.
Imbibitor Lunae’s best teammates
Because Imbibitor Lunae needs to consume a lot of skill points to be effective, his best teammates are those that can generate a lot of skill points themselves or don’t need to consume them much to be effective.
For Harmony supports, your best bets are Yukong, Tingyun, and Bronya. Yukong increases your party’s ATK, Crit Rate, and Crit DMG while also being an Imaginary character. With that said, you will need to manage your party’s Speed values to ensure Yukong’s buffs always go to Imbibitor Lunae.
Tingyun can buff Imbibitor Lunae’s ATK with her skill and grant him energy with her ultimate, all while being a skill point-positive character.
Finally, Bronya grants huge DMG buffs and can use her skill to immediately advance Imbibitor Lunae’s action. However, she is more skill point-intensive compared to Yukong or Tingyun and needs to be carefully managed.
For Nihility supports, you can go for Silver Wolf or Pela. Silver Wolf provides strong single target debuffs and DEF shred while also being able to inflict Imaginary Weaknesses on enemies who don’t initially have them. Meanwhile, Pela can remove buffs from enemies with her skill and reduce the DEF of all enemies with her ultimate while generating a lot of skill points.
For defensive supports, your best bets are Luocha, Gepard, and the Preservation Trailblazer, as they don’t need to consume a lot of skill points in order to provide defensive utility.
Luocha is by far the best defensive support you can run alongside Imbibitor Lunae, as he can automatically heal low-health allies without consuming skill points, generate a healing field, and remove buffs from enemies with his ultimate. Luocha being an Imaginary character also allows you to run a mono-Imaginary composition with him as the defensive support.
When built right, Gepard can put up the strongest shield in the game while only using basic attacks to generate energy for himself. He can also freeze enemies with his skill when you’re in a pinch.
Meanwhile, the Preservation Trailblazer’s shields are weaker than Gepard’s, but they can generate them every turn by just using basic attacks to build up skill points.
Honkai: Star Rail version 1.3 was released on 30 August and features Imbibitor Lunae as the featured 5-star for the first half. The second half will then see the debuts of 5-star Quantum Preservation character Fu Xuan and 4-star Quantum Abundance character Lynx Landau.
After version 1.3 comes version 1.4, which will see the debuts of new 5-stars Jingliu and Topaz as well as the new 4-star Guinaifen. Honkai: Star Rail version 1.4 is expected to be released in early October.
