An illegal New Year’s rave that attracted some 2,500 people to hangars south of Rennes continued into January 2 before finishing up in the early hours.
The gathering, which contravened France’s COVID-19 curfew, prompted an intervention from Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin. He said on Twitter he instructed police to block entrances to the site, near Lieuron.
He also said that more than 200 fines were issued.
A statement from the local prefecture said police came under attack when they tried to prevent the party going ahead. One police vehicle was set on fire, they said. Credit: Nicolas Mercier/Hors-Zone Press via Storyful
