Fall just arrived, but you may have already noticed the weather getting colder and the nights growing longer. These seasonal changes reminded IKEA's team of designers of the "dark, brooding portraits and still-lifes" of Dutch master painters from the 17th century. Images from the Dutch golden age served as inspiration for IKEA's new Dekorera collection. Combining moody colors and IKEA's signature Scandinavian craftsmanship, the line features home accessories and textiles.
To help set the mood during the longer evenings is a set of dark gray candlesticks. The same unique shape of the candlestick, which is available in two different heights, will also add dimension to your living space. Complete the setting with dark gray tea light holders that resemble a lotus flower.
Balancing out the darker colors, there are colorful throws, storage boxes, cushion covers, and trays that will brighten your home. The trays, which reference famous paintings, can be used to serve guests (they're the perfect size for carrying cups of coffee) or as decorations on your wall. The line also features rustic stoneware, including neutral vases, bowls, and jugs.
Functional and stylish, the textiles boast a range of patterns and textures, from a cotton velvet cushion cover with intersecting florals to a fluffy wool rug with striped fringes. And you can transform your Strandmon armchair into a whole new look thanks to this new beige cover.
The collection also has pieces that make great gifts, including a 1000-piece puzzle that nods to Johannes Vermeer's "Girl with a Pearl Earring" painting. There are also colorful playing cars and a memory card game.
