New York City just got another go-to destination for stylish, well-priced furniture. Located in the Rego Shopping Center in Queens, a brand new IKEA store is now open to the public. It's the first location in the United States with a new, smaller format offering a full range of products.
Designed with the lifestyle of New Yorkers in mind, the store features room sets and digital tools that are focused on sustainable living solutions for small spaces. Along with the selection of products and the curated shopping experience, the store's location was strategically chosen. The new IKEA is right next to 63rd Drive–Rego Park subway station and just a block away from the Q59 and Q60 bus stops.
So what sets this new location apart form traditional IKEA stores and the Planning Studio in Manhattan that opened last year? At IKEA Queens, customers can buy and take home portable home furnishing accessories curated specifically for New Yorkers. For all other products, shoppers can and set up home delivery for a flat rate fee of $49 for anywhere in New York City. Customers can also use self-pay and assisted checkout. Plus, they can make appointments with IKEA co-workers to plan kitchens, living rooms, and bedrooms.
"Every detail was created with the unique needs of New Yorkers in mind, from the proximity to public transportation and delivery and assembly options, to the wide product range curated specifically to meet their dynamic lifestyles," Shahab Mollaei, Market Manager, IKEA Queens, said in a press release.
IKEA Queens will be open every day from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Amid the ongoing pandemic, the new location is implementing the same safety enhancements as other stores. Some of the measures include social distancing, temperature checks for workers, capacity limits, and enhanced cleaning and sanitation.
