Ice Dunes Explored as Lake Erie Shoreline Freezes Over

Cavernous ice dunes were found on Lake Erie near Perry, Ohio, as the National Weather Service (NWS) warned people to stay off ice on the lake due to “dangerous conditions” on Sunday, February 21.

The NWS said that dangerous ice conditions were set to continue developing over the next couple of days, with the risk that ice could break off from the shore. “If you are on the ice and it breaks away from shore, you will become stranded,” they said.

The US Coast Guard reported that they rescued 10 people stranded on two ice floes near Edgewater Park in Cleveland.
