IATSE Releases the Full Details of Their Tentative Deal; Sets Dates For Ratification Vote
IATSE has published the Memorandums of Agreement for the Hollywood Basic, Videotape and Area Standard Agreements–which is the specific contract language of the tentative deals reached between IATSE and the AMPTP–ahead of a ratification vote that begins on Monday. Eligible IATSE members will vote on whether to ratify these agreements between July 14-17, with the results scheduled to be announced July 18th.
Bargaining began in early March and a summary of the provisional contract was released June 29, offering general points in areas such as wages, funding of the benefits plan and AI.

The Hollywood Basic and Videotape Agreements cover approximately 50,000 film and TV workers across IATSE’s 13 West Coast Studio Locals, primarily based in Los Angeles. The Area Standards Agreement covers roughly 20,000 film and TV workers across 23 local unions across the United States in cities other than Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, and Chicago.
The ratification vote works in a similar manner to an electoral college, meaning that in the case of the Basic Agreement, for instance, the locals with the largest number of members, the International Cinematographers Guild (Local 600) and Motion Picture Editors Guild (Local 700), will carry the most weight.
The negotiating committees have unanimously recommended ratification of their tentative agreements. IATSE international president Matthew D. Loeb said in a released statement, “I encourage every eligible member to review these comprehensive documents and vote. It’s my hope that members cast their ballots in numbers that reflect the spirit of engagement and participation as part of their union.”
The current contracts expire July 31.
