Hurricane Sally wreaks havoc in Florida
Eyewitness video showed flooding on the streets of the downtown and harbor area of Pensacola on Wednesday (September 16), as the city experienced up to 5 feet (1.5 m) of flooding due to Hurricane Sally.
Sally moved northeast on Thursday (September 17), where it was expected to bring more than a foot of rain to some areas, one day after it flooded streets and knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses on the U.S. Gulf Coast.
Sally made landfall early on Wednesday near Gulf Shores, Alabama, with winds clocked at 105mph, making it a Category 2 storm on the five-step Saffir-Simpson scale of intensity.
