A drone attack on the Republic of North Ossetia–Alania in the Russian North Caucasus was carried out by Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR), the RBC-Ukraine news agency reported on Telegram on June 8, citing sources.

The consequences of the first attack on the region, located about 1,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, are being assessed.

This follows an earlier report on the same day by the region’s governor, Sergey Menyailo, who claimed that three attack drones were allegedly downed in the town of Mozdok. Mozdok is home to a military airfield for Russian MiG-31K fighter jets that regularly fire Kinzhal supersonic missiles into Ukraine.

No one was injured in the attack, which caused "minor damage and fires," he claimed on Telegram. Menyailo added that an operational headquarters had been set up in Mozdok, with all services on high alert and public events canceled.
