Hunter McGrady's Glam “SI Swimsuit” Red Carpet Moment with Her Mom Included a Hilarious Wardrobe Malfunction
The model said on her Instagram Stories that her mom added press-on nails to her look about "10 minutes" before they walked out the door — which was a recipe for disaster
Hunter McGrady will never forget her 2024 Miami Swim Week.
Not just because she strutted the runway as one of this year's cover models for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, but also because she walked the red carpet for the outlet with one of her mom's fake nails stuck to her chest.
Yes, that really happened.
But at least she can laugh about it now.

Hunter took to her Instagram Stories on June 2 with her "saga" about how the nail ended up stuck to her on the red carpet in the first place. She said her mom, Brynja McGrady, decided about "10 minutes" before they were going to walk out the door that she wanted to do press-ons to add some extra glam to her look, to "look more put together," the model said.
"As we're walking, the nails are hanging on by a prayer to our heavenly father," Hunter joked of how poorly the fake nails were actually stuck onto her mom's fingers.
Somehow, between when they left their hotel and when they arrived at the red carpet, one of Brynja's nails made it onto Hunter's skin. The model said on her Instagram Stories she saw it while looking at photos the next morning.

"The nail made its red carpet debut front and center on my chest, I'm unwell," she wrote over a photo of the two of them together.
In photos of Hunter alone on the red carpet, though, the nail is not there. So the mystery remains of when it actually got stuck onto her skin.
She further joked that "that bitch is now on the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit red carpet front and center, so, like, if people say you can't do something, if people say that you are nothing, think of this story, because you can quite literally reach for the stars."

Her next Instagram Stories showed Brynja's hands with half of her nails missing. Hunter wrote, "Someone get my mother some real ass nice ass press on nails ffs."
And the last piece to the puzzle showed the nails — and the glue that clearly didn't work very well — in a bowl.
