Hundreds of thousands of people were left without power in greater Detroit as an ice storm hit the region on Wednesday, February 23.

Footage by Noralee Lluch-Paalam captured an electrical explosion in Allen Park late on Wednesday night.

At publication, Detroit-based energy provider DTE reported more than 300,000 customers were without electricity.

The National Weather Service (NWS) warned of “significant ice accumulation” of up to half an inch, and urged people to avoid travel. Credit: Noralee Lluch-Paalam via Storyful
