Hundreds gather for Ukrainian soldier's funeral

STORY: When Russia launched full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, Artem Dymyd, was in the United States, his father Mykhailo Dymyd told Reuters.

A war veteran who served in eastern Ukraine before, Dymyd bought a helmet and a flak jacket and went straight to the frontline.

Dymyd’s mother said in a Facebook post he was killed in a mortar shelling next to the city of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine.

Hundreds of mourners came to Saint Peter and Paul Garrison Church in central Lviv to pay their respects to Dymyd. Dozens of scouts also attended the ceremony as Dymyd, was a member of the scout organization.
