Hundreds Evacuated as Forest Fire Breaks Out in Southern Turkey

Around 800 people were evacuated as a forest fire that erupted on Wednesday, September 7, continued into Thursday, in Gulnar, Turkey, according to local news outlets.

The Daily Sabah said 11 firefighting planes, 29 helicopters, 138 fire trucks and 850 personnel were deployed. The cause of the fire was not yet established.

Turkey’s defense ministry said military helicopters were dispatched to help efforts to control the fire.
