In a press release on Sunday, July 21, the Vermont State Police (VSP) announced that they found human remains on Sunday morning while searching for Roberta Martin, who was reported missing by neighbors on Wednesday, July 17.
"The human remains are believed to be those of Ms. Martin," police said in the release, which adds that the medical examiner will confirm the identity.

Per the press release, the investigation into Martin's disappearance is currently active and ongoing.
Martin last spoke to her family members on the phone on the night of Tuesday, July 16 at 11:30 p.m.
She was reported missing at 11:55 a.m. the next day when a neighbor went to her home on Butternut Hollow Road and discovered she wasn't there. Martin was reported to be in good health at the time.

“It certainly is suspicious because we haven’t found her, she’s not home which is unlike her normal life patterns where she’s generally in touch with her family often,” said Major Dan Trudeau of the VSP Criminal Division while answering media questions at a press briefing posted to Facebook on Thursday, July 18.
At the time, Trudeau confirmed that police had applied for a search warrant of one of Martin's neighbors homes because they had probable cause. He didn't provide any further details on the matter of the search warrant.
No suspects have been announced.
