Huge Fire Breaks Out at Industrial Plant Near Houston

An explosion and large fire injured at least two people at a Pemex industrial plant east of Houston in Deer Park, Texas, on Friday, May 5, according to local news outlet KHOU 11.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said he’d received “preliminary reports of some type of explosion” at the plant, and said the sheriff’s office and the Harris County Fire Marshal were responding.

The Deer Park Independent School District (ISD) said authorities had not issued a shelter-in-place order “because the wind is blowing away from our schools.” Credit: Ruben Bernal via Storyful
