Huckleberry Fox Dies: Former Child Actor Best Known For Playing Debra Winger’s Son In ‘Terms Of Endearment’ Was 50

George Miller “Huckleberry” Fox, the former actor best known for playing the youngest son of Debra Winger and Jeff Daniels in Terms of Endearment, died Nov. 3 in Washington, DC. He was 50.

His death was confirmed by Potter Funeral Service in Massachusetts.

Fox’s breakout moment from the 1983 movie directed by James L. Brooks was when his character tearfully says goodbye to his dying mom (Winger). He would go on to appear in such movies as Misunderstood, American Dreamer, Konrad and The Blue Yonder before eventually leaving Hollywood.

He ultimately graduated from Northfield Mount Hermon School and New York University before continuing his education at Cornell University, where he earned a Master’s Degree in animal science. He also received his doctorate from the University of Florida in plant medicine.:

Fox would go on to work as a scientist and diplomat of the United States Department of Agriculture.

He is survived by his wife Mercy, two sons, five siblings and parents.
