We've always been fans of the humble house plant, and now that coronavirus has forced the majority of us to self isolate and stay at home, bringing the outside in has never been so important.

Whether you live in a rented property without a garden, or because you could do with an interior refresh, a new house plant could be just what you need. And the best part? You can buy them online! From giant monsteras to cute cactus, here's a selection of the best places to buy a house plant online. All you need to do now is keep it alive!

Leaf Envy

Leaf Envy is all about house plants, and specifically connecting people and their homes with nature. They offer a curated selection of beautiful plants and accessories designed at making botanical home living accessible.

Their website is a dream for any budding plant parent. You can shop for the plants, the kits and the pots but you can also make use of their archive of expert advice on how to care for your plants and you can take their plant quiz to find the perfect green friend for you and your space.

On top of this they're experts in design, so you can use their roomscape feature to see which plants are right for which space.

Plus they've just launched their first exclusive collection of minimalist and modern plant pots, designed in Hackney and handcrafted in Portugal by expert ceramicists, with a whopping 45 bespoke combinations to choose from.

Bloombox Club

Bloombox was originally launched back in 2015 with a focus on wellbeing and how beneficial plants and plant care can be for our mental health. They also stock a big range of pots, baskets and other accessories, and have a number of handy plant care guides online.

One very exciting thing about Bloombox Club is their subscription service. Prices start from £39 and for that you get a new unique plant with a perfectly fitted pot and educational materials every month, with a cute gift every other month.

Bloombox Club also offers a great gifting service, including gift subscriptions and vouchers. Nobody is stopping you gifting yourself either...

Thompson and Morgan

This online garden centre has a huge selection of house plants you can buy online, available for whatever your conditions. Whether you've got a bright spot crying out for a euphorbia abyssinica (see above), or want a plant more suited to a shady corner; they have loads of options, and deliver to your door.

Undemanding and easy to grow, the senecio 'string of pearls' plant could be a good introduction to get you into house plants. They're very tough and drought tolerant, meaning they can survive with little to no water - great for the forgetful types! Hang them from a homemade macrame and enjoy a very Scandi vibe.

If those don't quite do it for you, why don't you check out the large selection of other indoor house plants available to buy online?

Blooming Direct

If flowers are more your thing, why not try an orchid from Blooming Direct? This one offers pure white, multiple blooms on strong stems which last for many weeks, meaning it will look beautiful on a sunny windowsill all year around.

Known as the 'Pin-Stripe Plant', the Calathea 'Sanderiana' has large, dark green, glossy leaves that are striped with candyfloss pink, and boast contrasting purple undersides. These are easy to grow and love a shady spot - perfect!

Crocus

While Crocus are only taking a certain number of orders a day, this one is definitely worth getting in on. Swiss cheese plants like bright but indirect sunlight and have large, glossy heart shaped leaves, and let's be honest? They're absolutely beautiful.

The giant white bird of paradise requires a bit more maintenance than many of the other indoor plants, but it's totally worth it. They like bright but indirect sunlight, and require regular watering during the growing season (February - May) as well as a balance liquid fertiliser, followed by sparing watering in winte. As the old leaves become shredded, trim them off.

Patch Plants

Patch has a huge range of indoor and outdoor options, but it's their house plants they're really known for. They're all about making owning plants easy and accessible, and getting us to break free of the assumption that we'll probably kill our plants one day.

The idea is that if you get the right plant for the space, and for you, you should be able to keep each other happy. So, the website it all about finding your perfect match, letting your search through some genuinely helpful genres, from "Shade lovers" to "Unkillables".

Patch is also known for its quick, reliable delivery and the plants arrive in great condition which sometimes isn't the case with other plant delivery services.
