‘House of the Dragon’ is 6th Most-Streamed Show, While ‘Echoes’ Dominates Nielsen Top 10

“House of the Dragon” has not quite taken the Iron Throne on the streaming charts just yet, debuting at No. 6 on Nielsen’s Top 10 overall streaming list and No. 3 on the acquired programs list with 741 million viewing minutes.

Atop the originals and overall list is none other than Netflix’s miniseries “Echoes,” starring Michelle Monaghan, which was the only title during the Aug. 22-28 week to top 1 billion viewing minutes.

Remember that the “Game of Thrones” spinoff is an HBO title, meaning that it does not count as a streaming original from HBO Max and thus the Nielsen Top 10 does not count linear viewership of the series, which HBO has previously reported on directly.

Given the genre show’s Sunday night schedule (9 p.m. ET), this week’s ratings mark the first full week of viewership measurements following its Aug. 21 release. As a result, Nielsen’s ranking also accounts for some Sunday night viewership for Episode 2, in addition to the pilot.

Somewhat surprisingly, it’s “HoTD’s” predecessor that made it into the top three streaming programs overall, logging 909 million viewing minutes as audiences visited (or revisited) the flagship series ahead of its prequel’s release. Those numbers put “GoT” atop the acquired streaming titles list.

“Echoes,” which was released Aug. 19, came in at No. 1, having jumped 114% compared to its opening weekend. Meanwhile, Disney+’s “She-Hulk: Attorney At Law” made its debut on the streaming originals list with 390 million viewing minutes across two episodes, garnering the ninth spot with a male skewing audience (58%) which was 56% aged 18-49, in line with other Marvel titles.
