NHS staff in Scotland have joined in the VE Day anniversary commemorations with a rendition of Dame Vera Lynn’s wartime anthem We’ll Meet Again.
The choir from Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Children came together to sing the famous tune, video from Thursday, May 7, shows.
The UK has been showing its appreciation for key workers during the coronavirus pandemic at 8 pm every Thursday. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde shared a video of the choir’s performance at that time.
Friday, May 8, commemorates 75 years since the end of fighting in Europe during the Second World War. #VEDayatHome was trending across the UK, as people prepared to mark the event at home. A two-minute silence was to be held at 11 am, followed by a number of BBC programmes, including a national singalong to We’ll Meet Again.
