Hong Kong police raids pro-democracy news outlet

Video Reuters obtained showed police sealing off the outlet's offices, and taking away acting editor-in-chief Patrick Lam.

Five others, including pop singer Denise Ho, senior barrister Margaret Ng, and current or former board members of the media were detained.

"Sedition" is a colonial-era offence that had rarely been used against the former British colony's citizens, until recently.

Stand News is one of few outspoken pro-democracy news outlets left in Hong Kong, after the now-defunct tabloid Apple Daily was shut down in June for alleged "collusion with foreign countries."

The Hong Kong Journalists' Association said it was "deeply concerned" about the arrest of Stand News' senior members.
