Homes Destroyed as Caldor Fire Tears Through Twin Bridges

The Caldor Fire ripped through the small town of Twin Bridges, California, on August 29, leaving structures ablaze and sparks flying through the forest.

Alekz Londos captured footage of the fire, and of downed powerlines and clouds of smoke as he drove through the neighborhood.

Londos described the situation as “pretty grim, dangerous, depressing, scary, overwhelming.”

“Dozens of homes have been destroyed in this neighborhood,” he says in the video as he drives through Twin Bridges.

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection warned that strong winds could cause the Caldor Fire to spread further.

More than 480 homes had been lost to the fire by the evening of August 30, Cal Fire said. Full containment was not expected for two weeks, they said, and more than 33,000 structures were considered under threat. Credit: Alekz Londos via Storyful
