Home roof ripped off during storm in northeastern Thailand

This is the terrifying moment a roof flew off a home during a storm in northeastern Thailand. The incident was recorded by a neighbour as heavy rain and strong wind battered Surin province on June 5. Onlooker Ponrat Hongjua said: "Our house roof was leaking. It’s the first time in my life seeing anything like this happening to homes in the district." Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines are at the start of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October. Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
