SINGAPORE —From Saturday (18 September), home recovery will be the default care management model for fully vaccinated COVID-19 patients aged 12-69, who have no severe co-morbidities or illnesses, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Friday.

Only those aged up to 50 were eligible previously.

These patients must be able to self-isolate in a room, preferably with an attached bathroom. In addition, they must not have household members who are more than 80 years old or are in one of the vulnerable groups – for example, pregnant individuals or those with weakened immune response.

Those who test positive for COVID and meet the above criteria can begin their home recovery immediately, without having to be conveyed to a hospital or community care facility.

Starting Wednesday, home recovery became the default for suitable COVID-19 patients below 50 years of age. A total of 597 patients, including 13 children between five and 11, are currently recovering at home, the ministry said.

Since the home recovery pilot started on 30 August, 32 patients have been discharged.

The ministry urged all fully vaccinated COVID-19 individuals below the age of 70 to adopt home recovery, given that they are less at risk of severe illness.

Separately, 100 vending machines dispensing Antigen Rapid Test (ART) kits will be deployed at 56 locations islandwide to support self-testing by individuals who receive Health Risk Warnings (HRW) and Health Risk Alerts (HRA).

The vending machines will be available for 24/7 access from Saturday.
