Home of Palestinian-American Attack Suspect Demolished by Israeli Forces

Israeli forces demolished on July 8 the West Bank family home of a Palestinian-American accused of involvement in a shooting that killed an Israeli student, local media reported.

Muntasser Shalaby is accused in a shooting on May 2 that resulted in the death of Israeli student Yehuda Guetta and the wounding of two other people.

In a statement to Storyful, the United States Embassy in Israel said they were following reports of the demolition. “We believe it is critical for all parties to refrain from unilateral steps that exacerbate tensions and undercut efforts to advance a negotiated two-state solution, this certainly includes the punitive demolition of Palestinian homes,” the statement said. “As we stated numerous times, the home of an entire family should not be demolished for the actions of one individual.”
