After supporters of President Donald Trump breached barricades and stormed the US Capitol Building on January 6, a video message was posted on the president’s social accounts in which he told supporters that they had “to go home.”
Trump continued to push the baseless conspiracy theory that he won the presidential election by “a landslide,” and was the victim of a “fraudulent election,” but told supporters to “go home in peace.”
“We have to have peace. We have to have law and order; we have to respect our great people in law and order,” Trump said.
The video was posted on the president’s accounts at around 4.20 Eastern Time on Wednesday, January 6, though it’s not clear when it was recorded. Credit: Donald J Trump via Storyful
