Home and Away spoilers follow for UK-pace episodes on Channel 5.
Home and Away teen Ryder Jackson gives his long-lost father Evan Slater a frosty reception next week.
Ryder (Lukas Radovich) is about to have his life turned upside-down as Evan turns up in Summer Bay out of the blue, wanting to connect with him after a lifetime away.
A shellshocked Ryder isn't sure how to react to Evan's arrival, initially questioning whether he could be a conman.
It's only when Ryder makes contact with his mum on the phone that he verifies Evan (Cameron Daddo) is telling the truth.
After making little progress with Ryder, optimistic Evan speaks to Roo (Georgie Parker) instead – trying to explain why he abandoned his son all those years ago.
Roo tries to encourage Ryder to consider giving Evan a chance, but he remains adamant that he wants nothing to do with his father. As a result, Roo suggests to Evan that it might be best for him to leave.
When Evan tries one last time with Ryder and fails again, he finally gets the message and makes plans to leave the Bay. He hands over his business card to Roo in case she ever needs to contact him again, but Ryder rips it up.
Later, Ryder crosses paths with Evan as he's waiting for the bus to leave the Bay.
Ryder offers to have a coffee for him as the next bus isn't due for a while. They awkwardly get to know each other, but Ryder isn't overly keen to take things any further.
Despite this, Evan thinks otherwise and decides to rent out a caravan nearby, believing that he's making positive progress with Ryder. How will Ryder react to Evan's decision to stay around?
Home and Away airs these scenes on Monday, June 22 and Tuesday, June 23 at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5.
