Home and Away has announced that Ditch Davey is joining the cast.
Ditch will play Dr Green, a character who will be introduced when one popular Summer Bay resident faces a medical crisis, Digital Spy can exclusively confirm.
"With his level of expertise and arrogance, he puts a few noses out of joint at the hospital," reads the character description, "but that doesn't mean he lacks a sense of humour... or softer side for those he wants to let in."
Ditch, who has appeared in shows such as Spartacus and Black Box, praised everyone on the Australian soap for making him feel welcome on set.
"Home and Away has been such an institution to audiences in both Australia and the UK for such a long time and it's great to be a part of that now, but the people are what it's all about," he said.
"The cast and crew are brilliant and have made me feel at home immediately."
Meanwhile, producer Lucy Addario has confirmed that there are no plans to write the coronavirus into their storylines.
"We did think about it, but we really know that people love to come to Summer Bay to escape," she told BBC Newsbeat. "By the time the episodes we shoot get shown, if we are doing COVID stories, it'll be the last thing people want."
Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5 (UK) and Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 (Australia).
