Home and Away has cast Cameron Daddo as a new character for Summer Bay.

Rumours have been swirling for months that Daddo was set to join the soap, and now it has finally been confirmed that the famous Australian actor has joined the cast and will soon be making his first appearance in Summer Bay.

According to Australia's TV Soap Magazine, the character first comes to the Bay and strikes up a friendship with Roo (Georgie Parker), who is unaware that the man she's talking to is actually her nephew Ryder Jackson's father.

Soon afterwards the man ends up revealing his true identity to Ryder (Lukas Radovich) but, after a protective Alf (Ray Meagher) gives him a stern talking to, it seems the mystery man's appearance in Summer Bay and his son's life may just be short-lived.

The drama starts when a mystery man (Daddo) arrives at Alf's bait shop, looking for the Stewart family.

After making friends with Roo, the man then later shows up to Summer Bay House carrying his guitar and starts talking with Ryder, who is confused by the man's interest in him before the man explains that he's his dad.

As Ryder is left shocked and suspicious by the revelation, Roo seems determined to finally get to know her sister Quinn's former flame and get to the bottom of his reappearance in their lives.

However, Alf is none too pleased to meet the newcomer after years of never knowing the identity of his grandson's father and warns the mystery man that if he hurts Ryder, he'll live to regret it.

Following Alf's warning, the man ultimately makes the difficult decision to leave Summer Bay and heads to the bus stop, only for Ryder to suddenly appear and ask him to stay so that they can get to know one another.

Will he decide to stay after all?
