Cleo McQueen is now her family's prime suspect as the blackmailer after making a surprise return to the village in Hollyoaks.

Cast member Nadine Mulkerrin's return scenes aired during Tuesday's first-look episode (November 17), after months away on maternity leave.

As Cleo arrived back at The Dog, she maintained a zen attitude while Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) tried to talk her way around being a part of Scott and Mitchell's wedding.

"I am over it," Cleo insisted. "I've had plenty of time to get my head around it all… I do mindfulness and meditation. I've even had a bit of therapy. I'm no-one's victim anymore!"

Cleo also encouraged the family to chuck the "daft doll" out in the street and stop getting "wound up" over the blackmail threats.

She was next seen bumping into Scott (Ross Adams), who'd been arguing with Mitchell (Imran Adams) over whether they wanted different things from their marriage.

"I could make this really awkward, or I could just ask you why the long face?" she joked.

When Scott admitted he was worried it was the "beginning of the end" for his marriage after Mitchell's grandfather Walter questioned them, Cleo let the veil slip slightly.

"Too many people got hurt for your marriage to mean nothing," she shot back, before then insisting: "So, go fight for it."

Back at The Dog, Theresa (Jorgie Porter) was sharing her theory with Goldie (Chelsee Healey) and Mercy that there is more than meets the eye to Cleo's sudden reappearance.

"Cleo just turns up out of the blue, talking like a fridge magnet. That doll has not made a peep since," Theresa pointed out. "What if she's double bluffing? What if she's the blackmailer?"

Has Theresa rumbled Silas's accomplice?
