Hollyoaks' Kieran Richardson has been playing Ste Hay since 2006, having had many storylines covering things like drug dealing, domestic abuse and far-right extremism. And he's not going anywhere anytime soon.
"I get quite protective over [Ste] and the show," he said, "and I'm so grateful for all the opportunities that it's given me in my personal life.
"I know for a fact that I wouldn't have children now if it wasn't for being in the show. I probably wouldn't be married now, or I probably wouldn't have come out so publicly. All of these things that have made my life a lot greater are because of being in this show.
"So I don't think I would ever be like, 'Thank you, I'm done'."
Ste left the village last year after being radicalised by the far-right group that he thought were his friends, and Kieron told Digital Spy back in April about where he'd like Ste to go back to as a person.
He said: "I hope Ste has changed. I think that's the beauty of it. Because the audience hasn't seen Ste, he could have been up to anything over the past few months.
"I'd like to think that Ste has had time to reflect and think about the situation that he put himself in last year. Hopefully he has learned from that. It'd be nice to come back with a fresh start."
Hollyoaks currently airs new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4. Classic episodes, titled Hollyoaks Favourites, air on Fridays at 7pm on E4.
