Hollyoaks has revealed full details on Ste Hay's return, as he arrives back in the village next week.

Kieron Richardson returned to filming at Hollyoaks at the end of August, following a year away.

In fictional terms, Ste left the village last year, wanting to clear his head after extracting himself from Stuart Sumner's group of far-right extremists.

Ste's comeback will come at a significant time for the Maalik family, who are on a high following Yazz and Tom's recent engagement.

With plans for the wedding full steam ahead, Yazz tries to educate Tom on her Bollywood inspiration.

Luckily, Tom is sold on a big, extravagant wedding and wants to make the engagement official with a ring.

Yazz is touched when Tom gets down on one knee in the village but their happy moment is interrupted by Ste, who is looking worse for wear.

As the Maaliks and Lomaxes react to Ste's return, the big question is whether they can really forgive him.

Ste's second port of call is Tony and he decides to surprise his friend at The Hutch.

Keen to start afresh, Ste asks Tony for a job at the restaurant but Mandy isn't sure – worried it'll damage their business too much. With so much history, will Ste be able to start again in the village or has he simply burnt too many bridges?

Speaking about Ste's return, Kieron told Digital Spy: "I hope he has changed. I think that's the beauty of it. Because the audience hasn't seen Ste, he could have been up to anything over the past few months.

"I'd like to think that Ste has had time to reflect and think about the situation that he put himself in last year. Hopefully he has learned from that.

"It'd be nice to come back with a fresh start. I want him back in his tracksuits and in the heart of the village again."
