Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
Edward Hutchinson's sinister plot for Diane has been revealed in Hollyoaks, after putting her into a coma earlier this month.
Edward has got an injunction against Tony seeing Diane because he has made police believe that his son was responsible for attacking her.
In Thursday's (December 17) first-look episode, Tony (Nick Pickard) confronted Edward (Joe McGann) over Kurt's warning that his dad was the most dangerous conman he'd ever met.
"Kurt Benson deals in lies and innuendo. He will have had an agenda just like the rest of his petty schemes," his father insisted.
Tony called on his sister Verity (Eva O'Hara) to distract Edward for the afternoon, so he could visit Diane (Alex Fletcher) at the hospital in secret.
Edward quickly figured out Verity was working with Tony, so he threatened his daughter that he could expose the truth about buying her a legal license.
"Stop meddling, or you can say goodbye to your legal career faster than you can say, 'Objection'," Edward warned.
At the hospital, Tony was horrified to discover Edward had put the engagement ring on Diane's finger once he'd induced her coma.
"Could he sink any lower?" a tearful Tony wondered.
Verity called to tip Tony off that Edward was on his way, then revealed that she had something he needed to see.
His sister showed him documents confirming that Edward planned to move Diane and the children away to an island, so he could have them all to himself.
"Verity, I've got to find a way to stop this. I might not ever see Diane or the kids again," Tony feared, with Verity vowing: "I won't let that happen. This has gone on too long."
Can they stop Edward?
