Hollyoaks has confirmed when new episodes of the soap will return.
The show has been absent from our screens since the end of July, when the series ran out of episodes to air.
To fill the gap, E4 treated fans to a special rerun series called Hollyoaks@25, giving them another chance to see some of the most dramatic episodes from the programme's history.
And before tonight's (August 21) instalment of Hollyoaks@25, the E4 continuity announcer confirmed that the soap will return on September 7.
From Monday, August 31, the soap will be re-airing some of its more recent episodes, giving fans a chance to catch up on the latest storylines.
The last five episodes – focusing on Darren Osborne's depression storyline, Warren Fox's childhood history with Felix Westwood and the build-up to Scott Drinkwell and Mitchell Deveraux's wedding – will all be shown again from the beginning of that week.
Elsewhere, the BBC has confirmed that new episodes of EastEnders will also commence on September 7.
In the exact same situation, the show has been on an extended break since running out of episodes in June.
Just like the rest of the UK, the residents of Walford have been adjusting to a new way of life since the coronavirus outbreak, with the soap now exploring the aftermath of lockdown.
Hollyoaks will return to E4 on September 7, while EastEnders will return to the BBC on the same day.
