Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Cleo McQueen and Joel Dexter could be in serious danger after their kiss was potentially rumbled by killer Toby Faroe in Hollyoaks.

The former couple shared a romantic moment earlier this week, as Joel (Rory Douglas-Speed) was questioning whether he actually wanted to marry Cleo's family member Goldie (Chelsee Healey).

Joel confessed that he is still in love with Cleo (Nadine Mulkerrin), but she insisted they had no future together during Tuesday's first-look episode (January 5).

Cleo not only mentioned that she'd recently seen Joel kissing another McQueen — the family traitor Theresa — but she also had a budding romance with Toby (Bobby Gordon).

Neither knew that Toby's sister Celeste (Andrea Ali) actually saw their lurid kiss, and was now racked with nerves over how her brother would react.

Celeste confided in father Felix (Richard Blackwood) over what she saw, with her dad urging her to keep quiet to make sure Toby doesn't hurt anyone.

"You need to be well away from this, at least until Walter gets his transplant, then I'm taking him straight to prison," Felix promised.

Felix's daughter didn't heed his advice, as she later confronted Cleo to reveal that she'd seen her "cheating" on Toby.

"Snogging the face off your ex? It's not a good look. And you don't seem all that bothered about it," Celeste sniped.

Cleo explained that Joel kissed her and she "pushed him away", but revealed that she was planning on telling Toby anyway because she's "not one to keep secrets".

"That's the last thing I want," a worried Celeste told her.

As Celeste encouraged her to "leave it in the past", Toby turned the corner to ask his sister what she was referring to. Has Cleo and Joel's secret been rumbled?
