Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks has cast Tom Benedict Knight as Brad King – the boyfriend of Denise Welch's character Trish.

It was confirmed last year that the Loose Women star was joining the Channel 4 soap as Maxine Minniver's mum.

Newcomer Tom will be joining Hollyoaks alongside Denise, playing her handsome but manipulative boyfriend, Brad.

Brad and Trish’s arrival – which is first teased in the show's brand new trailer above –will be a shock to Maxine who has fought many battles without her immediate family around her in recent years.

Speaking about joining the show, Tom said: “I am really thrilled and excited to have joined the Hollyoaks family. It has been awesome on set, fast-paced, and never a dull moment working with the great cast and crew.

“Working with Denise and Nikki has been absolutely fantastic, both are super talented actors who are a delight to work with, and have had me in stitches non-stop!

“Brad is definitely here to stir things up in Hollyoaks… Get ready for a lot of bad behaviour and broken hearts. There's a new BAD boy in the village…”

News of Trish's love interest was first revealed by Denise back in November.

During a chat on Loose Women , Denise confirmed that her alter ego would have a "hunky lover", saying: "I've never been welcomed so much as I have been by the Hollyoaks gang.

"As well, I have a hunky lover who I can't say who it is yet... I've got someone very, very, very, very easy on the eye."

Tom's previous credits include Kingsman: The Golden Circle and Houdini, where he starred opposite Adrien Brody.

Brad and Trish's first appearance will air in the week commencing Monday, January 18.

Hollyoaks currently airs new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
