In emotional scenes last night (February 5), Walter demanded answers after a photo of Mitchell with Scott Drinkwell was slipped into his bible.
Angry, Walter admitted that his rage came because his brother was gay and died, though demanded that Mitchell come to church to repent, which he agreed to.
However, Mitchell finally snapped after Walter called Martine a "sorry excuse for a parent", telling his grandfather: "You try to make everyone in this family the perfect version you want them to be."
"And if they aren't, you shame them for their entire lives… I choose to accept myself. I choose a fair shot at happiness. I choose to stop lying about who I am. I'm gay!"
Walter then stunned Mitchell by then telling him he was no longer welcome in the house or family.
Fellow Hollyoaks star Annie (who plays Sally St Claire) has now called for Walter to be kicked out of the house instead in a powerful Twitter post.
"After watching last night's amazing, heartbreaking #hollyoaks... In my view, if someone comes out to their family... the HOMOPHOBE should leave the house, NOT the LGBT+ child," she wrote. "Martine and Lisa need to put their foot down."
Later on in last night's episode, Mitchell bumped into Scott, who told him: "Mitchell, you are a wonderful, beautiful person."
Hollyoaks airs Mondays through Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look episodes airing on E4 at 7pm.
