Shopping for kids or grandkids? I'm a huge fan of anything radio-controlled: cars, boats, drones and so on. To my thinking there's no better screen-free fun to be had — at least until jet-packs are widely available.
Here's an RC deal that's so good, I thought it must be a mistake. (Fear not: I checked with the seller; it's legit.) For a limited time, and while supplies last, Walmart seller GearUP Store has the Wltoys XKS 144001 radio-controlled car for $37. (That's for the green model; the red one is available for $3 more.) Although it shows a regular price of $74, the very same car sells at Amazon for $112.

Able to hit speeds of up to 60 KPH (that's about 37 MPH for us U.S. types), the XKS is fast. In fact, it might be a little too fast for younger drivers; the recommended age here is 14 and up, though I think with some adult supervision it would be fine for slightly younger kids.
The good news is that the car is constructed with various alloy (as opposed to plastic) components, so it should be able to withstand at least some of the inevitable flips and impacts.
This configuration comes with a single 1,500-mAh battery, one that's good for around 7-10 minutes of racing. It's always nice to have extras, so here's a pair of compatible 3,000-mAh batteries for $37. (I know: It's ironic they cost exactly as much as the car itself.) Because they're twice the capacity, each of those should last for around 15-20 minutes.
Although Walmart's product page shows just one review for the XKS, the aforementioned Amazon listing has 277 of them, with a 4.3-star average rating. And that's based on a much higher price. I think for $37, any minor flaws that might exist here are easy to overlook.
Indeed, as kid gifts go, I can't think of a better option — or better deal — than this.
