Holby City is set to air another major twist for Donna Jackson when the medical drama returns to our screens.

The BBC One soap has been off air for almost three months now, but the show will finally make its return on Tuesday, November 10 at 8.15pm.

Now, the soap has revealed that Donna (Jaye Jacobs) will see an unwelcome friend return to Holby, and she'll be more than resistant to his advances on her.

It's currently unclear who this returning friend is, but Donna is still likely to be shaken by the death of her on-off partner Zav (Marcus Griffiths).

Back in April, Griffiths revealed that he fought for a happier ending for Donna and Zav, as the two parted on difficult terms before his character's death.

Donna had grown frustrated with Zav over his increasingly determined attempts to expose Cameron's dark secret, and they were unable to patch things up before his death.

On how he wanted a happier ending for the pair, Griffiths previously told Digital Spy: "Yes, that was a big bugbear of mine, I won't lie.

"Obviously I knew Zav was about to kick the dust, but when he said goodbye to Donna, they didn't know it was going to be the last time they saw each other.

"I tried to make that last scene more emotional but the director, quite rightly, reminded me that Zav was on a mission and wouldn't have had time for a long conversation. For me, though, it was the last time Zav was going to see the love of his life."

Holby City airs on BBC One.
