Hoda Kotb Says She's Only Gone on 2 Dates Since Ending Her Engagement 2 Years Ago
'Today' host Hoda Kotb ended her engagement to Joel Schiffman in 2022 after eight years of dating and two kids together
Hoda Kotb is taking her time when it comes to love.
The Today host shared that she hasn’t been actively dating since ending her engagement to Joel Schiffman two years ago.
“I’ve only got on two dates since…” she told co-host Jenna Bush Hager on Thursday morning’s episode.
The conversation came after Sofía Vergara commented that dating in New York City is a lot easier than Los Angeles. The reason? Not everyone is famous.
But according to Bush Hager, 42, there’s no better time for Kotb, 59, to consider her options. “Well I think it’s time for us to change that,” she told her co-host.

For a moment, Kotb wondered if this was a pre-planned segment… and if there was a surprise on the horizon. “Are you about to reveal something?” she asked.
She joked, “‘Come on out Bill’ What? Like, what are you thinking. ‘We’re gonna change that.’”
Bush Hager didn’t have a blind date up her sleeve, though. Instead, she though it was time to start searching for a new love interest for her costar — and maybe Vegara, too.
“The inflection in my voice sounded too dramatic. But I think it is time for us to change that for you. And for Sofia, I’m on it for both of you,” she said.
Kotb wasn’t opposed to the idea. “Yeah. You know what? There are a lot of people who are entering brand new and exciting chapters,” she said. “And these are all exciting chapters. So yes, I agree with that.”

Schiffman, 65, popped the question to Kotb in 2019, but the pair broke off their engagement in 2022 after eight years together.
“Joel and I have had a lot of prayerful and meaningful conversations over the holidays and we decided that we're better as friends and parents than we are as an engaged couple, so we decided we are going to start this new year ... on our new path as loving parents to our adorable, delightful children, and as friends," she said at the time.
"It's not like something happened. They say sometimes relationships are meant to be there for a reason, or a season or for a lifetime. And I feel like ours was meant to be there for a season," she added.
Kotb and Schiffman share daughters Hope, 4, and Haley, 6.
