Hoda Kotb Rocks a Wet Poncho — and a Huge Grin — While Meeting Tom Cruise for the First Time at the Olympics

On Friday, July 26, the Today show co-anchor, 59, shared an Instagram photo of herself posing with the Top Gun: Maverick star at the opening ceremony of the Paris Games.
In the snapshot, Kotb sported a wet poncho — and a huge smile — with Cruise, who appeared to also have wet hair from the rain storms in Paris.
“Do you know when you dream of meeting Tom Cruise… And then it finally happens,” Kotb captioned the photo.
Her Today with Hoda & Jenna co-host Jenna Bush Hager responded in the comment section, teasing, “In your dream were you wearing a poncho? Hahahaha.”
Savannah Guthrie — who has co-anchored Today with Kotb since 2018 — added, “Icons only 👏”
Today reported that Kotb and Cruise, 62, “casually bumped into each other on a bridge over the Seine."
Kotb’s meetup with Cruise comes after she was shocked to find out that fans were "shipping" her with another star.
On Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen earlier this month, an audience member asked the journalist, “How do you feel about viewers ‘shipping’ you and Kevin Costner after he appeared on Today last month? And have the two of you connected since?”
The question came as a surprise to Kotb, who exclaimed through her laughter, “Wait, what?”

Host Andy Cohen immediately explained, “The viewers want the two of you together” following Costner’s June 20 Today interview.
"I have never heard that, not one time," Kotb said and her Today co-anchor Gutherie responded, “Well, you heard it now, you up to it?”
"Well, if the viewers want it," Kotb quipped with a devilish smile while looking at the camera.
"Give the people what they want," Guthrie concluded.
