Are Hoda Kotb and Eric André a Love Match? Ali Wong Says So, as She Tries to Set Them Up on “Today”
The comedian also surprised the 'Today' show host with André's unexpected "homage" in her honor
Ali Wong knows just the guy for Hoda Kotb!
During her appearance on Today with Hoda and Jenna, the comedian, 42, coyly revealed that she knew the perfect man to set up with Kotb — her friend and funny man, Eric André.
"Eric André is like obsessed with you," Wong smiled before asking if she was familiar with his work. She then pulled up several photos of The Eric André Show personality, 41, adding, "Look, he's a colorful dresser. He's the host of his own show."
The Beef actress flashed a photo of André dressing up as Kotb in a light brown wig and a purple dress for Halloween. "And then that!" she said, referring to the photo. "Look at [this. It's a] homage to you. Is that the first time you’ve seen that?"
When Kotb and her cohost Jenna Bush Hager expressed their surprise over the images, Bush Hager asked why Kotb was the inspiration behind his costume.
"Because he loves Hoda. I asked him, when I was talking to him about dating, I was like, ‘What is your type?’ And he responded, ‘Hoda Kotb.’ No, I think he just said ‘Hoda’ because you’re like, you know, in that mono.. status — what is it, mononym status?" Wong replied, referring to celebrities who are referred to only by their first names like Madonna and Cher.

Kotb confessed that she had no idea that André was "obsessed" with her and Wong added that his fondness for her shouldn't come as a surprise as she has "a career, you’re secure, you’re beautiful."
Bush Hager agreed that the two could really hit things off and quipped to Wong, "Let's talk after this!"
Kotb was last linked to Joel Schiffman. In 2019, the financier popped the question to the broadcast journalist but the couple broke off their engagement in 2022 after eight years together. The pair share daughters Hope, 4, and Haley, 7.
While she's still on the hunt for her perfect match, Kotb told PEOPLE she was changing her approach to dating in an effort to remain true to herself.

The mother of two also dished her advice for returning to the dating pool, saying, “If you sit in your house and order Domino's Pizza, you're not meeting anybody. Okay?”
“You got to just kind of go out, and who cares if it's a good day or a bad day, it doesn't even matter,” she continued. “Go out, learn a little, have some fun and be open. Like just do it. You get one ride around the sun. You might as well go out and eat with someone. They're paying, who cares? Like, go do it.”
