Get ready for some more spooky fun from the Sanderson sisters! Hocus Pocus is officially getting a sequel and fans are already counting down the days until they can return to Salem, Massachusetts for another crazy adventure. Hocus Pocus has certainly become a beloved cult classic ever since it first premiered in 1993, so it's certainly no surprise to hear that Disney is working on a second film.
So who will be coming back for Hocus Pocus 2? And what sort of trouble will the Sanderson sisters be getting into? Here's everything we know about Hocus Pocus 2.
Is the cast doing any other reunions?
While we're going to have to wait until an official sequel comes out, the Sanderson sisters aren't letting a pandemic keep them from getting together during spooky season.
"Your 3 fav witches - @sarahjessicaparker @kathynajimy & ME - are returning for 1 night only on 10/30 at 8p ET! 'In Search of the Sanderson Sisters' is the best thing to happen to #Halloween since Hocus Pocus + Reeses Pieces," Bette Midler announced on her Instagram.
Doug Jones is also back as Billy and he showed his costume on his account.
Their big reunion is all a part of Bette Midler's annual Halloween fundraiser for the New York Restoration Project. Fans will only have one chance to watch the show since it won't be rebroadcasted and tickets are already available for $10.
Who is coming back for the Hocus Pocus sequel?
Casting hasn't been announced yet, but the three Sanderson sisters (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy) have all been open about their interest to return.
Bette Midler revealed to Entertainment Tonight that she is totally up for the sequel.
"I can't wait to fly! Oh yeah, [I'm interested]. We're just talking logistics," she revealed.
Meanwhile, Sarah previously opened up to one of her BFFs, Andy Cohen, about the possibility of coming back.
"I think that it is something Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and I are all very hospitable to the idea," she said. "I think for a long time, people were talking about it as if people were moving forward with it in a real way but we were unaware of it. We've agreed publicly to the right people, yes, that would be a very, very fun idea, so we'll see what the future holds."
Since production hasn't started on the film just yet, there's still a bit of time before they announce who will be back and what new faces will be joining the craziness in Salem, Massachusetts.
Is Hocus Pocus 2 actually happening?
Someone better find the Black Flame Candle 'cause it looks like someone just lit it. Disney+ announced that an official Hocus Pocus sequel is in the works and will be released on the streaming service in the future. Hairspray director Adam Shankman is directing the sequel, according to Variety. However, it won't start until he's done filming Disenchanted, the highly-anticipated Enchanted sequel.
What will Hocus Pocus 2 be about?
The script is currently being written by Workaholics and Scroll Wheel of Time writer Jen D'Angelo so nothing is official about the story just yet. However, considering the fact that there's already a sequel YA novel that followed Max and Allison's daughter 25 years later as she faces the Sanderson sisters, there's a good chance that it's currently being adapted for the sequel.
When will the Hocus Pocus sequel be released?
There's no word on when fans can expect the highly-anticipated sequel to be released, but hopefully the late won't be too long!
