Hockey Player Kale Kessy Knocked Out in Fight, Stretchered Off Ice

Kale Kessy, a forward with the American Hockey League team the Hershey Bears, was kept in the hospital overnight after he was knocked unconscious in a fight during the Bears’ game against the Charlotte Checkers on Tuesday, February 25.

Kessy was knocked out in a brawl with the Checkers’ Derek Sheppard in the second period of Tuesday’s game.

According to the Bears, Kessy lost and regained consciousness on the ice and was “alert and in a stable condition” before he was transported to a local medical facility.

The Bears said that Kessy told his teammates to “go win the game” before he was stretchered off the ice.

The Bears defeated the Checkers 6-1. Kessy, 27, has been a regular in the AHL since the 2013-14 season and is in his first campaign with the Bears. Credit: Ian Rapp via Storyful
