KUALA LUMPUR, July 3 — Cantopop queen Sammi Cheng has been forced to postpone her upcoming concert due to her recent Covid-19 diagnosis.

The 50-year-old was supposed to perform for 13 nights at Hong Kong Coliseum starting July 14 for the AXA Presents You & Mi Sammi Cheng World Tour.

Cheng, who was diagnosed with Covid-19 in May, told fans the bad news via a clip shared online that the illness had affected her rehearsal schedule and caused her voice to be hoarse.

She was also experiencing nasal congestion and coughing, dimsumdaily.hk reported.

Taking into consideration Cheng’s health condition, concert organiser Media Asia Group Holdings Ltd decided to postpone the concert to allow the singer sufficient time to rest and recover from the illness.

It was previously reported that Cheng had sought traditional treatment to recover from Covid-19.

One of the treatments involves Cheng undergoing moxibustion on her neck which involves the burning of mugwort leaves on affected areas of the body, 8days reported.

She was so desperate to recover in time for her concert that she told fans she was “willing to eat toads” to regain her voice.
