HK film critics pick their winners of this year's awards

24 Jan – The Hong Kong Film Critics Society has recently announced the winners of the 26th edition of its annual awards.

As reported on Mingpao, the organiser announced the winners and revealed that it has awarded Ray Yeung's LGBTQ-themed movie, "Suk Suk" as Best Film.

The movie stars Ben Yuen and Tai Bo as two men who meet in their twilight years only to unleash something in them that had been suppressed for so many years.

On the other hand, the film's actor Tai Bo also won Best Actor, a title he shared with "Beyond the Dream" star Terence Lau. Meanwhile, Terence's co-star Cecilia Choi won Best Actress for her role in the latter movie.

Best Screenplay was awarded to Norris Wong for "My Prince Edward", while Derek Tsang won Best Director for "Better Days".

The Hong Kong Critics Society Awards also named their recommended films for the year 2019. Aside of the two four movies mentioned, other films in recommendation include "The New King of Comedy" and the animated feature, "The Great Detective Sherlock Holmes - the Greatest Jail-breaker".
