KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 31 ― Multiple award winner actor Tony Leung Chiu Wai has joined Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, amassing 1.54 million followers in a day.

The 61-year-old's first clip for the platform entitled “First time here, do take care of me” that was uploaded on Monday, January 30, had since been viewed 1.59 million times.

In the 45 second recording, Leung, who was wearing a royal blue suit and black turtleneck, said he was not one who was good with words but had a pair of eyes that could “speak”.

“Since my eyes can speak, then I will use it to look at you,” he said in the clip to get social media users to follow him.

Fellow actor Andy Lau, who joined Douyin two years ago, also uploaded a clip to welcome Leung to the platform.

The Heavenly King hash tagged his clip Leung Chiu Wai joins Douyin.

According to Mirror Media, besides Douyin, Leung also has a Weibo account but he seldom uses it.

Leung was said to only use Weibo when promoting his work.

However, Leung's entry into Douyin is said to coincide with his latest movie Hidden Blade currently aired at cinemas.

Fans are happy that their idol had finally joined the platform as they would be able to know his latest news, hk01 reported.

They, however, hoped that Leung would not use the platform to do livestreams and sell products.
